About this project
This programme focuses on addressing issues that the Ivorian oil palm and cocoa sectors struggle with such as high deforestation rates, soil erosion, land tenure insecurity and high incidences of child labour. Weak or absent service provision hampers the wide-scale adoption of good production practices and development of commercial agriculture, contributing to increased difficulty to meet international standards. Through the interventions of this programme we bring the adoption of climate smart practices to scale, to increase cocoa and oil palm yield and diversify income from local food crops. We strengthen women's control of their income by strengthening and empowering Village Savings and Loans Associations as well as support cooperatives to improve their service delivery, including marketing of local food crops and strengthening market access of both cocoa and oil palm by providing hands-on support to meet local and EU market requirements. To boost income and livelihood resilience, farm livelihood diversification and marketing of local food crops and carbon removal units are actively promoted too.
