About this project
This cluster works to mainstream deforestation-free beef production in Brazil's Mato Grosso and Pará states, where cattle ranching is the country's largest source of GHG emissions and a leading driver of Amazon and Cerrado deforestation. IDH engages meatpackers and companies to strengthen cattle traceability, supports smallholder pasture intensification to raise productivity and reduce deforestation pressure, and builds an investment hub connecting beef buyers with credit lines tied to deforestation-free commitments. The program also supports forest restoration, carbon MRV development for smallholders, and inclusive business models that improve producer incomes and advance gender equality in the sector.
