About this project

The agreement is part of Norad's Enterprise Development for Renewable Energy (EDRE) Scheme, which aims to support Virunga Power in reducing risks associated with developing the Weza Power company. Weza Power is a private-sector electricity distribution company committed to connecting 9 million people by supplying electricity to residential and business customers in peri-urban and rural areas of Burundi. This agreement supports various activities, including financial and tariff model development, environmental and social studies, topographical and geotechnical studies, and the establishment of a training center. The primary beneficiaries of these efforts are the people of Burundi.
