FOLHA- Forest Finance Leveraged for High Integrity in the Amazon

About this project

Despite the progress in REDD+ agenda, there remain technical gaps. To address these challenges, FOLHA supports operationalization of an effective policy framework on carbon markets across different levels, including state and federal government, local communities and indigenous peoples to identify and propose solutions to such challenges, that contribute to the legitimacy and sustainability of J-REDD+ as well as Brazil's climate and sustainable development goals for the climate and forest sector by: Facilitate the flow of data to promote alignment on GHG accounting, safeguards and governance; Strengthen the participatory processes for engagement in decision-making by all stakeholders, particularly indigenous peoples and with consideration of gender-sensitive approaches; Deliver technical advisory services and information to equip stakeholders with the skills and capacities needed for effective implementation; Address institutional fragmentation and limited coordination by promoting structured engagement; Promote institutional continuity by supporting intersectional coordination mechanisms, institutional memory tools and cross-government ownership; Establish a strategic communication and transparency framework; Foster structured peer learning and coordination among Amazonian and Cerrado jurisdictions The FOLHA solutions contribute towards outcomes that are required for jurisdictional REDD+ programs in Brazil: Robustness for compliance, Safeguards for Inclusivity and Learning…
