About this project
“Naturaleza Campesina” seeks to curb deforestation in the Andean Amazon region by strengthening community processes that promote the protection, restoration, and sustainable use of ecosystems. The project is based on the recognition of the strategic role of rural communities in land management and ecological connectivity between the Andean region and the Amazon. Through work with Peasant Reserve Areas (Zonas de Reserva Campesina) and other forms of rural community organization, the project seeks to consolidate sustainable development models, contributing to organizational strengthening, sustainable production and conservation initiatives, and the management of local knowledge, for the exercise of community and nature rights in the departments of Cundinamarca, Putumayo, Caquetá, Meta, and Guaviare, which are key to the planet's biodiversity and climate stability.
