About this project

PATSPO III is implemented by ICRAF and in partnership with federal (EFD) and several regional actors. The project aims to contribute to Ethiopia's long-term (20+ years) landscape restoration targets of 20 million hectares- through a sustainable, climate-resilient national tree seed sector supplying high-quality, genetically diverse tree seeds of priority species, leading to increased biodiversity, and 20-40% improvements in the productivity of wood, fodder, food crops and soil health resulting in livelihood increments for people living in the restored areas. The project has four interrelated outcomes Outcome 1: A well-functioning policy system for the seed sector operationalized in Ethiopia PATSPO Ill is implemented in partnership with local partners (federal and regional government actors and local farmers and private seed dealers) and builds on the gains and systems established in the previous phases. Outcome 2: Functional knowledge systems and decision-support tools for seed sourcing and use operationalized at all levels in the national tree seed sector Outcome 3: Well-managed, an9 genetically diverse seed sources established to meet seed demand for restoring 500.000 ha. of degraded land and protecting biodiversity in the country Outcome 4: Institutional and technical capacity across all levels of the national tree seed sector enhanced, focusing on communities and gender inclusion.
