About this project
Impact: Food Security strengthened in rural Northern Ghana. Outcome 1: Agricultural sector strengthened through market linkages; Outcome 2: Enhanced access by smallholder farmers to market, knowledge and employment through hubs; Outcome 3 Increased adoption by smallholder farmers of regenerative agricultural practices. Warc is planning to establish rural infrastructure over three years, including container-based trading hubs, 100MT silos, storage facilities and cold rooms to enhance operational efficiency and inventory management. Additionally, Warc plans to invest in trucks for efficient transport of crops between hubs and systems to distribute produce to downstream buyers. This network will engage a total of 21,000 farmers (50% women and youth) with improved inputs, training, and market access. Warc will purchase 54,000 MT in total of maize over three years (Y1 – 9,600 MT, Y2 20,400 MT and Y3 24,000 MT), injecting €21 million into the local economy and creating 147 direct full-time jobs, with a strong focus on gender inclusion. Warc aims to supply Koudijs, a subsidiary of the Dutch animal feed company De Heus, their key partner with 30,000 MT of maize over the next three years. This collaboration contributes to sustainable agriculture, rural development and long-term food security in Ghana.
