About this project

Strengthening Resilience of Vulnerable Communities through Climate Resilient Livelihoods and Integrated Environmental Practice in Northern Ghana (the Upper East and Sanannah regions). The three main objectives of the project are: 1) improved livelihoods of 3 000 (approx. 15 000 beneficiaries) pastoralists’, farmers’ and fishers’ households through integrated fish, crop and livestock production and improved access to water. 2) increased productivity and income through climate-resilient practices and market integration with focus on women empowerment. 3) strengthen early warning systems and sustainable natural resource management for risk reduction against climate-induced shocks. The direct beneficiaries of the project will be the 3000 pastoralists, farmers’ and fishers’ households (15 000 people). 50 % of the beneficiaries will be female-headed households located in the most vulnerable districts of the Upper East and Savannah regions in northern Ghana. To ensure inclusivity, FAO will ensure that women, especially those in female headed households and persons with disabilities living in the households targeted will benefit equitably from this project.
