About this project
The programme aims to strengthen the soy sector in Ghana by working with Small and Medium Food Enterprises (SMEs) (5-6) and with at least 3-4 premium off takers benefitting a minimum of 10,000 farmers (60 % women) of which 70 % will get improved access to markets and improved incomes. 20,000 on-farm work opportunities will be created and 750 off-farm opportunities in the business operations of SMEs and service providers. Gender equality is one of the main objectives of the programme. Through private sector co-financing and the investment development work, EUR 3 million commercial finance will be unlocked benefiting SME’s and smallholder farmers (SHF) in the programme. The project strengthens climate adaptation by equipping SMEs and farmers with climate adaptive inputs, regenerative agricultural practices, and resilience focused service models, informed by climate risk assessments and implemented through partners such as IITA to ensure more climate resilient soy production. The geographic areas of the programme are: Northern Ghana (Northern, North East, Savannah, Upper East, Upper West Regions).
