About this project

This project seeks to support more inclusive, informed, and constructive public discussion on forest protection and sustainable land use in Indonesia through public engagement and capacity strengthening. Led by BBC Media Action with Indonesian partners, it responds to the need for stronger climate and forest literacy, greater resilience to misinformation, and broader participation in dialogue on forestry policy and implementation. The approach combines large-scale digital content, trainings, and locally grounded discussion forums that help translate complex policy issues into accessible, relevant, and solution-oriented public conversation. The initiative will work with the general public, local media, influencers, civil society organisations, indigenous and local communities, and policymakers at multiple levels. It aims to expand understanding of the value of forests and indigenous stewardship, strengthen the ability of local actors to communicate effectively and engage audiences, and create more opportunities for dialogue around forest-related policies and financing mechanisms. By linking national outreach with local engagement, the project is designed to support transparency, participation, and long-term local capacity while contributing to policy processes that are better informed by community perspectives and local realities.
