About this project

This agreement falls under Norad’s Enterprise Development for Renewable Energy Scheme (EDRE). Under the scheme, Norad supports WeLight in undertaking market studies, technical assessments, impact evaluations, and a review of local regulatory and policy frameworks to prepare for the expansion of three metro-grids in Madagascar. These metro-grids combine existing solar mini-grids with diesel generators. The project primarily aims to increase the capacity factor of the existing solar assets through the integration of battery storage and improved grid connections, while also adding new solar generation capacity where needed.
