About this project

Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) is establishing a national Disaster Resiliency & Response Fund and a dedicated Climate Disaster Management Unit to protect Mozambique’s power system from increasingly severe cyclones, floods and droughts. With Norwegian support, the programme shifts EDM from costly, reactive repairs to proactive resilience by reinforcing critical grid sections and river crossings, pre-positioning emergency equipment in strategic warehouses, deploying rapid-response teams, and rebuilding damaged assets to higher climate-resistant standards—reducing outages, protecting essential services, and safeguarding long-term energy security for communities and the economy.
