About this project

This agreement falls under Norad’s Enterprise Development for Renewable Energy (EDRE) Scheme. Norad’s early-stage support helps mitigate the risks faced by our partner, SN Malawi B.V., in developing the Mpatamanga hydropower project. Activities supported under this agreement include environmental and social consultancy services and studies, technical consultancy services and studies, financial and legal costs, and the cost of a Bailey bridge. The project is also expected to contribute improved drought and flood management. Once commissioned, Mpatamanga will have an installed capacity of 358 MW and a forecast annual generation of 1,545 GWh. The target beneficiaries are the people of Malawi.
