About this project

Supporting Malawi to build a national system for tracking ecosystem-based adaptation, enabling climate resilience and unlocking Article 6 finance opportunities. Outcome 1: Develop robust methods and tools, refine indicators nationally and locally, and support harmonization of system design, thereby enabling Malawi to reduce vulnerability, enhance adaptive capacity, and build resilience in the AFOLU sector. Outcome 2: Operationalization of EbA monitoring: Developed capacity and knowledge, building on field data, costing and strong communication for sustainability of results and global impact. The purpose is to develop capacity, implement and exchange knowledge and efficient communication within selected, vulnerable pilot districts, national and global institutions Outcome 3: Enabling policy and finance environment: Facilitated enhanced ambition in national climate action targets with support to national adaptation plan (NAP) and nationally determined contributions (NDC) cycles. Through capacity development and technical backstopping, the project supports national efforts to build policy frameworks, costing, budget planning and resource mobilization capacity to support the EbA monitoring framework and its result integration into the NAP process, and NDC cycle, as well as associated Biennial Transparency Reports.
