About this project
The project is a continuation of NER-15/0001, REDSAACC. The overall goal of phase II is to support the Nigerien government to reduce hunger and improve food and nutrition security for the Nigerien population, through a more diversified and sustainable agriculture resilient towards climate change. Specific objective: By 2026, 40 000 vulnerable households (280 000 persons) in 40 communites, in Maradi, Tahoua, Tillabéri, Dosso et Zinder will have equitably and significantly increased their food and nutrition security. The project is very much aligned with one of the major policy objectives of the government of Niger: “La stratégie de l’Initiative 3N (I3N) « les Nigériens nourrissent les Nigériens », which was adopted in 2012 and is still the main policy framework for addressing food security in Niger. The implementation of the project will continue to mobilize the two main actors: CARE Niger and INRAN. In addition, CARE Norway, national NGO partners and Noragric / NMBU is involved in the project. NGO partners are selected following an open process based on an evaluation of their performance in accordance with Care Niger’s partnership policy.
