About this project
Thematic area: Sustainable commodity production Problem to be solved: Unsustainable land use and pressure on forests from global markets/leading companies. Proposed solution (Impact – outcomes - outputs) and target group: The project will reduce tropical deforestation by driving change through agricultural commodity supply chains. It will focus on soy and cattle in Brazil, The project will benefit local and Indigenous people by strengthening capacity for forest monitoring; enhancing recognition of Indigenous rights and territories; and protecting forests that support livelihoods. It will connect local and Indigenous leaders to international decision-making processes, both corporate and political. It will ensure women’s inclusion in these processes and in storytelling about the impact of deforestation. The project aims to help achieve sustainable land use and reduce pressure on forests from global markets, and cuts across NICFI priorities. Outcome: Reducing cattle and soy-driven deforestation by 85% in Brazil.
