About this project

The main objective of the multidonor fund is to provide a platform for coordinated financing for the sustainable reconstruction and development of Somalia, with a focus on core state functions and socio-economic recovery. The MPF serves several key functions as a complement to IDA financing. It provides a mechanism for development partners to easily channel ODA through country systems in Somalia, either as co-financing for IDA investments or new investments projects, which may later be scaled up by IDA. It helps reduce fragmentation, by enabling development partners to pool resources. Moreover, co-financing of IDA investments helps the portfolio achieve greater economies of scale and impact at scale through country systems. Pilot investments in core areas of focus such as climate change and women empowerment/gender equality are envisioned. The MPF-financed policy dialogue and knowledge work is designed to inform the portfolio and advance CPF objectives in a way that serves a broader group of stakeholders. Knowledge products are intended to serve as public goods, helping inform sectoral and thematic discussions with implications beyond the immediate portfolio. Similarly, platforms for policy dialogue are designed to advance national discussions of critical importance for Somalia to achieve its development goals.
