About this project

ELCAP - Enhanced Livelihoods through Commercial Agricultural Production The project's overall goal is to sustainably improve the livelihoods of 6000 smallholder farmers in the Singida region in Tanzania. According to the application this will also contribute to create 9,944 jobs. According to the proposal the project will Improve the lives of the 6,000 smallholder farmers by strengthening support structures to commercialise maize, pigeon peas, sorghum and sunflower value chains so smallholder farmers can choose the crop that best suits their needs and attain broader product distribution. There will be a focus on improved input and practices, not at least the introduction of methods for waste sorting and use of organic waste in the agricultural production (Biochar). The organic waste sorting system can potentially also create other revenue in itself. Solid actors such as Norsk Gjenvinning, Returkraft, Norges Geotekniske Institutt, Norwegian University of Life Sciences and CFU Tanzania are partners in the project and will provide technical support.
