About this project

Norway is committed to supporting Ukraine's energy recovery through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, focusing on urgent needs and long-term resilience. Key actions include procuring and deploying essential energy infrastructure like gas turbines, transformers, and decentralized solutions, alongside repairing damaged systems and implementing protective measures. The 2025 strategy emphasizes developing green energy and decentralized production, including a national plan for repairing power plants and gas infrastructure. Norway's support aims to strengthen Ukraine's energy security, increase generation capacity, enhance grid stability, and expand decentralized renewable energy use. Critical infrastructure delivery includes modular gas compressor units, mobile cogeneration units, and solar systems for hospitals, supported with training and maintenance. The Fund seeks unrestricted support for flexibility in addressing evolving needs, prioritizing interventions like reinforcing grid stability and supporting renewable solutions. Despite a EUR 225 million financing gap, reforms aim to improve procurement efficiency and transparency, with major donors collectively enhancing the Fund's capability to address urgent energy needs amidst geopolitical threats.
