FONDO ACCION: Bioekonomi och klimatåtgärder i Colombia

About this project

This project seeks to integrate development and peacebuilding efforts with the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity to reduce the climate-related and economic vulnerabilities of populations in Colombia, with a particular focus on women and children. The project is structured around three components: 1)Sustainable rural development: Climate Resilience and Bioeconomy. This will be done through direct investments in bioeconomy and climate resilience projects to strengthen differentiated value chains and increase food security in indigenous communities in strategic ecosystems. 2)Climate Action Fund: Five calls for proposals will be launched for local organizations to implement small-scale climate change adaptation projects. These projects will strengthen communities' adaptive capacity and enhance the resilience of priority areas. The calls for proposals will be administered through the Resilience Fund for Children and Women, managed by the partner organization. 3)Support for the National Restoration Strategy 2023-2026. This initiative will support the implementation of the strategy developed by Colombia’s Ministry of Environment, which aims to restore priority ecosystems through the creation of new hectares under restoration and to promote regenerative and solidarity-based economies, with a particular focus on strengthening women’s participation and advancing gender equality.
