About this project

Sida support the consortium Somali Resilience Program (SomReP) during a third phase, for the project "SomReP 3: Inclusive livelihoods for vulnerable pastoral groups" with a budget of 79 million SEK during a two year activity period between September 2024 to August 2026. This is based on successful experiences and lessons learnt from the Sida support to SomReP phase 1 (2013-2016) and phase 2 (2019-2023). The project will continue to target the same geographical areas and communities in Northern Somalia, in the federal member states of Somaliland and Puntland. The principal objective of the contribution is to increase the resilience of chronically vulnerable people to climate-shocks and related risks to reduce humanitarian needs in targeted pastoral, agro-pastoral and peri-urban communities in Somaliland and Puntland. The project aims to target 145 803 individuals in 24 300 households. The target population mainly include pastoralists and agro-pastoralists, with specific focus on women and youth. The target population includes approximately 11% of people with disability. The project focuses on five areas: Adaptive risk management; Shock response programme; Sustainable livelihoods & economic growth; Transparent, accountable & inclusive governance; and, Evidence for adaptive management & innovation. The project is in line with Sida's five perspectives and also integrates a resilience/nexus perspective.
