About this project

The intervention represents a continuation and phasing out of previous phases (MEG1 and MEG2) implemented in last 8 years. Municipal Environmental Governance 3 (MEG3) is strategically designed as a consolidation phase that builds on the achievements and lessons learned from MEG 1 and 2, transitioning from piloting and implementation to institutionalization. The intervention is positioned to embed systemic improvements in local governance and water service delivery, using a resultsoriented approach and performancebased management as its core vehicle. MEG 3 (envisioned to last from 01.03. 2026 to 28.02.2030 ) will continue to support domestic institutions to assume full ownership of reform tools, frameworks, and practices, with the goal of complete institutional takeover by 2030, as an overarching goal. By the end of the intervention, the Programme is expected to ensure that institutions at all levels are equipped, empowered, and prepared to assume full ownership of the Project's outputs, thereby guaranteeing sustainability, scalability, and continued impact well beyond the Project's lifecycle.
