About this project

The contribution aims at improving the water distribution all over Syria. The seven main water systems provides water to about 12 million people. The systems are old, spare parts missing and difficult to import and during the war severe damages have occurred. Furthermore, there has been a lack of competent and trained personnel for maintenance. ICRC:s programme "Too Big to Fail" (TBtF) purpose is to stabilize the main water systems and infrastructure for distribution to avoid a break-down and a humanitarian catastrophe. The objective is to secure a stable access to water by the stabilization, improved efficiency and water distribution to the main eight cities in Syria, eg. Aleppo, Damascus, Homs and Hama.
