About this project

Jordens Vänner`s (Friends of the Earth Sweden) International Program is a collaboration between Jordens Vänner and five partner organizations in Latin America, carried out under the Strategy for Sweden’s Development Cooperation with Civil Society 2025–2029. The objective of the project is to strengthen the capacity of partner organizations and local communities to organize, defend their rights, and lead sustainable, self-determined development processes that address systemic injustice, environmental degradation, and the exclusion of women and youth. This will be achieved through four main outcomes: 1.Target groups and communities increasingly exercise and defend their human rights through legal empowerment, strengthened accountability mechanisms, and support for environmental and human rights defenders. 2.Target groups and communities increase their autonomy, environmental protection, and economic resilience by revitalizing and adopting sustainable, community-rooted practices—including traditional food systems, agroecology, and community forest management. 3.Partner organizations strengthen their autonomy and long-term sustainability through improved financial management, strategic planning, and diversification of funding. 4.Women and youth gain greater influence in community organizing and decision-making, reducing gender and age-based inequalities and advancing gender justice within both organizations and communities.
