About this project

The Shaqo Platform, established during the second phase of the Somali Nexus Skills and Jobs Programme, presents this Year 3 narrative report. Building on the pilot phase (Year 1) and consolidating the gains of Year 2, the consortium has continued to advance its mission of promoting sustainable employment opportunities for vulnerable youth. The consortium has adopted a systems approach, recognizing that successful economic integration of youth requires coordinated action across multiple stakeholders. These include private sector actors, public institutions, local governments, civil society organizations, community leaders, clan elders, and local communities. Through this approach, the programme has achieved notable results by strengthening the ecological, social, and economic capital of youth. Evidence and knowledge have been systematically applied to accelerate the design, adoption, and scaling of community‑driven, contextually appropriate interventions. These interventions have enhanced youth employability, expanded livelihood opportunities, and improved socio‑economic resilience within target communities. Year 3 outcomes demonstrate that the systems approach has effectively fostered collaboration, leveraged local capacities, and created pathways for youth to access dignified work. This positions the consortium to sustain and expand impact in subsequent programme phases.
