Enhanced Essential Services for Life and Resilience in the Sahel (SERVIR)

About this project

Led by the IRC and three national NGOs – AMMIE, CPOFS and GFORCE – SERVIR (Services Essentiels Renforcés pour la Vie et la Résilience au Sahel) will directly support 131,784 people in crisis-affected, hard-to-reach border communes in Burkina Faso (Nord and Sahel regions) and Mali (Douentza and Bandiagara regions) to survive crisis, recover from recurrent shocks, and progressively reduce their long-term vulnerability and dependence on humanitarian assistance. SERVIR adopts an integrated, adaptive and locally led design that addresses the intersecting humanitarian needs of displaced, host and returnee populations in conflict-affected zones. Three interlinked components – emergency response, community capacity building, and economic resilience – will be implemented concurrently or selectively, based on needs, access, and existing services. Targeted lifesaving assistance will meet immediate basic needs in food security, health, nutrition, protection, and WASH. Simultaneously, the Consortium will strengthen communities’ capacities to anticipate and respond to crisis, through community-led health, nutrition, and protection interventions, while also enhancing community-based early warning and response systems.
