About this project

Kaboni Yetu is a 12-month catalytic programme that moves Tanzania’s first fully community-led mangrove blue carbon initiative from readiness to credit-ready in the Mnazi Bay-Ruvuma Estuary Marine Park (MBREMP) landscape in Mtwara. Implemented across 15 coastal villages, the project strengthens the frontline community institutions that steward mangroves so they can govern, restore, monitor, and transparently manage future nature-credit revenues.
