PAGoDA with CDB for the Road Maintenance and Management System in St Vincent and Grenadines

About this project

The overall objective of the intervention is to enhance the quality of life of the citizens of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and to improve climate change resilience of the road network in particular rural roads. This will contribute to the stimulation of economic activities in rural communities and reduced vulnerability to climate change. The specific objectives of the intervention will be to (a) strengthen the national road management and maintenance programme whilst minimising environmental impacts and (b) upgrade and ''climate-proof'' village and feeder roads.According to the Action Document, for each of the specific objectives the main expected results are: a.Strengthen the Road Management and Maintenance Programme (i) Road and traffic legislations revised; (ii) Road strategy plan for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, including:a)environmental methods for rehabilitation (safeguards) b)climate proofing measures (resilient roads) developed(iii) Road network base map updated based on the World Bank GIS Mapping; (iv) Current Road Maintenance Management System (RMMS), including the development of affordable and acceptable maintenance standards developed and strengthened; and (v) Institutional strengthening/capacity building implementedb.Upgrade and ''climate-proof'' village and feeder roads The main result under this component is that the selected roads are rehabilitated.
