About this project
Mozambique¿s growth heavily relies on extractive sectors, with little diversification and value addition, and a resulting limited capacity to address job creation and poverty reduction. Higher productivity agriculture and the development of agro-industry will be vital to generate economic opportunities and achieve a more inclusive growth path. However, agricultural intensification and value chains development often fail to address their social, economic and environmental trade-offs, setting a harmful cycle of ecosystems degradation and increased poverty and vulnerability. The Action seeks to enhance nature-positive value chains, promoting resilient and productive landscapes and fostering entrepreneurship and SME growth, ultimately supporting Mozambique¿s transition towards greener, more climate-resilient and inclusive growth. The Action will focus on a limited number of agroforestry and crop value chains such as cashew, coffee and soy, along strategic corridors selected for their projected contribution to sustainable agri-food systems, job creation and a thriving private sector.
