Activity under preparation HANGARIBIHE: Transformational climate-smart and inclusive agriculture in Rwanda

About this project

The action further consolidates the ongoing transition to a modern and climate-resilient rural transformation in Rwanda, key for the country to reach middle-income status by 2035.The Action will contribute to a climate-resilient, sustainable and inclusive agricultural transformation in Rwanda by continuing and consolidating the on-going EU innovative Climate Smart Agriculture package, providing support to areas not yet fully covered around climate action in agriculture (such as climate data for enhanced evidence-based agriculture sector policy making) and adjusting performance indicators to the new policy context -the new overarching national development strategy NST-2- and subsequent new sector policies in the areas of agriculture (PSTA 5[1]) and environment (Rwanda¿s NDC 3.0 formulation process is currently on going).The Action is a central element of the comprehensive ¿Investing in Sustainable and inclusive agricultural transformation¿ TEI, for investing in rural transformation, and encompasses the following closely interlinked elements: (i) institutional support to climate-smart agricultural transformation, value chain development and climate action (including building on climate-biodiversity-nutrition co-benefits) national policies, (ii) agricultural value chains development and (iii) public infrastructure investments.
