About this project
As shown by the devastating 2022 floods and the strong impact of the 2025 monsoon, Pakistan continues to experience intensifying climate change-related weather extremes. These alternates between severe floods and prolonged droughts. As one of the most water-stressed countries globally, these shocks threaten vulnerable communities, ecosystems, and economic stability. Water insecurity and desertification are likely to trigger climate-induced displacement further straining social stability and regional security. This action addresses these structural risks by demonstrating the added value (and thus promoting) a systemic shift toward climate-resilient water management and inclusive green growth. More concretely, by adopting an integrated water management approach along parts of the Indus River Basin. The Overall Objective of this action is to foster inclusive socio-economic growth by reducing climate vulnerability and contributing to Pakistan¿s climate adaptation efforts. The Specific(s) Objective(s) of this action are to invest in and demonstrate the impact of ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) and green infrastructure interventions as efficient, effective and sustainable solutions for flood and drought risk reduction and enhance the climate resilience in the Pakistan Indus River Basin;to provide accompanying policy support for climate change adaptation by promoting EbA and green infrastructure interventions for water management in Pakistan;to increase water-use efficiency among fa…
