About this project

DescriptionThe Overall Objective of this action is to develop the institutions and business environment to improve water management and energy consumption in irrigated agriculture.The Specifics Objectives of this action are to:1) To support the establishment of public incentives that encourage private sector investments in new technologies and methods for on farm irrigation (Policy Support through Technical Assistance)2) To provide capacity building to introduce and maintain irrigation water demand management, improving effectiveness and operational efficiency for sustainable water resources management (direct management via call for proposals/grant contract) The action will be implemented in close complementarity with a parallel blending operation with the aim to rehabilitate and upgrade irrigation systems, introducing energy-efficient technologies such as solar-powered pumps, automated distribution networks, and precision irrigation methods like drip and sprinkler systems.
