About this project

This action will help children in southern Mozambique get back to safe schools after the recent floods that hit Mozambique during the 2025-2026 rainy season. The impacts of the floods were felt stronger in parts of Gaza and Maputo provinces and Maputo City, and the school infrastructure was especially impacted. A great number of classrooms and toilets were destroyed or damaged, and learning was interrupted for tens of thousands of children. The EU will support to rebuild and/or rehabilitate safe, flood resilient classrooms, fix water and sanitation in schools, and bring in learning material so children can recover on lost learning for grades 1¿6 in a minimum of 24 schools. The results chain is structured around two mutually reinforcing specific objectives:Rehabilitate/construct classrooms to climate resilient standards, restore WASH facilities and ensure minimum safety requirements in suitable locations, andAccelerate learning recovery aligned to the national curriculum for Grades 1¿6, in the same schools The Action will target the provinces of Gaza, Maputo and Maputo City.
