About this project

The overall objective of the call for proposal is to ¿improve agricultural productivity by promoting biofortified crops among smallholder farmers.¿ The project proposes to achieve this by ¿improving agricultural productivity through promoting bio-fortified crops among smallholder farmers¿ in Rwanda (Rubavu and Rutsiro districts). In fact, before the World Economic Forum for Africa held in Cape Town - South Africa- in 2015, the African Development Bank analyzed ¿Transforming Africa¿s Agriculture to Improve Competitiveness.¿ Therefore, eight priorities, including Rwanda, were identified to raise farm productivity and boost Africa¿s growth. Among them, five are relevant to the objective of the call for proposal. Those appropriate priorities are the development of high¿yielding crops, the increased use of fertilizers, the improvement of market access, regulations, and governance; the land ownership reform with productivity and inclusiveness in mind; and the step¿up integration into agriculture value chains
