About this project

In line with the Global gateway principles, this Action will contribute to the competitiveness of the Ethiopian agribusiness sector by unlocking opportunities for private investments in the horticulture and coffee value chains, and by better connecting these value chains with EU markets addressing a number of bottlenecks, in particular:·Addressing gaps in sustainable agro-ecological production and in-country value addition, including smallholder farmers;·Addressing gaps in food safety and compliance with EU environmental rules;·Improving access to finance for SMEs and smallholder farmers in the agricultural sector via an Agri-Fi window;·Addressing logistical gaps;·Allowing the development of income generating activities at grassroots level by enhancing access to productive uses of renewable energy (PURE);·Improving working conditions for workers across the whole agro-processing value chains in tandem with productivity improvement. The Action is therefore composed of a number of well-defined interlinked sub-actions, all converging to a single aim of achieving a sustainable agro-food system. Digital tools will be integrated throughout the different components in the Action.
