Integrated food security and livelihood support for communities in Gedaref and Kassala States

About this project

<p>The overall objective of the action is to contribute to enhancing sustainable and resilient livelihoods and food security in rural communities most affected by food insecurity, climate change and conflicts.</p><p>This objective will be reached through the following four main Specific Objectives (outcomes) with a focus on women and youth:</p><p>¿Enhanced modern and agroecology rainfed farming, horticulture, fishery, and animal production in Gedaref, and Kassala.</p><p>¿Increased involvement of agriculture/horticulture, livestock, and fishery production associations in selected value chains in Gedaref, and Kassala.</p><p>¿Improved knowledge on and access to finance for Farmers/livestock/fishery producer association members in Gedaref, and Kassala.</p><p>¿Improved access to water for drinking and agriculture in Gedaref, and Kassala.</p><p>Outputs:</p><p>Output 1.1. Smallholder farmers supported to improve engagement in modern and climate smart agriculture/ horticulture, fishery, and animal and poultry production.</p><p>Output 1.2. Agriculture and livestock extension services extended through trained and capacitated community-based local extension agents.</p><p>Output 1.3. Selected youth and women community members trained on nutrition and dietary diversity</p><p>Output 2.1.
