Strengthening Decentralization of Disaster Risk Reduction Management in Ethiopia (Afar and Tigray)

About this project

<p>Decentralised Disaster Risk Management (DRM) support will cover drought and conflict affected regions of the country, with a focus on enabling an early response system, and managing disasters related displacements. This support will cover regions at high risk of disaster, and regions where a DRM strategy is not yet implemented (Tigray and Afar). The Regional DRM institutions will commit 50 % of the (matching) funds to the early response and preparedness actions.</p><p>The Action aim to enhance the resilience of households, communities, and local authorities in the Tigray and Afar regions. The aim is to strengthen their capacities in disaster management and adaptation to various risks, ultimately reducing vulnerability and minimizing the humanitarian and economic impact of the disasters. By building the necessary skills and knowledge, the project seeks to empower these entities to effectively respond to and mitigate the effects of disasters, ensuring a more resilient future for the region.</p>
