About this project

This project is a component of a blended operation with the EIB with the objective to finance small-scale climate and environment projects in Honduras, notably in the field of climate change mitigation, environmental protection, and climate change adaptation through a green multi-beneficiary intermediated loan (¿Green Loan¿) to the Government of Honduras, aligned with the Global Gateway Investment Agenda in the country.

The investment grant component will increase the concessionality and incentivize final beneficiaries¿ appetite for targeted investments, to be blended with the tranches of the EIB Loan.

The Investment Grant is intended to incentivise Final Beneficiaries to prioritise climate action or environmental sustainability investments over other (non-climate, non-environmental) investment opportunities. Green investments typically come with higher capital costs than conventional technologies and may offer only longer-term benefits with longer-term payback.

The Investment Grant will be in an amount of up to 30% of the eligible Sub-Project costs, payable upon verification of the green investment implementation. The proposed amount of up to 30% is deemed appropriate to incentivise Final Beneficiaries to go the extra mile to invest in higher performing climate and environmental technologies.
