Promoting Meaningful Youth Participation in Zambia

About this project

<p>This action will work to promote meaningful youth participation and empowerment in Zambia and enhance the future of youth led civil society. Action Aid will implement the action through its Global Platform. The action takes a three-pronged approach to reach its overall objective of meaningful youth participation and empowerment. Firstly, the action will work to empower local youth led civil society organisations through the provision of funding (sub-grants). Secondly, the action will support the EU Delegation in Zambia to establish a youth sounding board and support the EU to create a real, fundamental, long-lasting change in how it engages with young people in its development cooperation. The final, crosscutting objective focuses on building the capacity of the target groups and stakeholders of the action including the youth led CSOs, youth sounding board members, as well as youth led social enterprises and movements. The action will support young people advocate for the promotion and protection of their rights. It will provide an opportunity for young people to engage in meaningful civic participation. Additionally, it will address social, economic and political needs of youth that includes, but is not limited to, youth unemployment, climate change, elections, the extractive industry, private sector engagement, health, education, and gender equality.</p>
