ENGAGE-South; Empowering New Generations and Growing Environmental Stewardship in Southern Thailand

About this project

<p>The proposed action, led by ActionAid Thailand (AAT) with co-applicants Green South Foundation (GSF) and ENLAWTHAI Foundation (EnLAW), aims to create an enabling environment that supports a strengthened civil society in participating and contributing to domestic policies affecting people¿s lives, with a focus on the environment. All the applicants are experienced working across Thailand, bringing expertise in strengthening local civil society organisations (CSOs), working with youth and building capacities in the rule of law, environmental policy, and climate action, working with local authorities and communities to effect change. The action prioritises enhancing CSOs¿ participation in tackling climate change and raising awareness of the impacts of climate change and global warming.</p><p>The overall objective is to enhance locally led management and protection of the environment, mitigating the impacts of climate change in line with the principles of sustainable development, respect for local ways of life, and human rights. This will be achieved by empowering civil society¿particularly youth activists, CSOs, and local communities¿to play a central role.</p><p>The specific objective of the action is to create an enabling environment, empowering local communities and civil society organisations to influence governance processes which will determine the direction of natural resource management and protection of ecosystems in the South of Thailand.</p>
