About this project

Contract related to: EU for Circular Economy and Green Growth - Waste Infrastructure in Albania - The Action will contribute to improving the protection of the environment and developing inclusive and gender responsive circular economy and sustainable green growth in Albania. Activities include for example aligning legislation, introducing Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), supporting regional waste infrastructure and ensuring engagement of communities and private sector in circular economy and green growth. The Action will support the transposition of key waste directives, and boosting their implementation by preparing key planning documents for legal compliance, waste prevention, the circular economy and hazardous waste. Moreover, it will support the strengthening of the capacity of waste management authorities at central and local levels, and will provide them with tools to implement, monitor and enforce waste management policies including the setting up of an integrated system for waste data collection. Thus, the Action will support the National Environmental Agency (NEA) to fulfil its reporting requirements and the National Agency for Water Supply, Sewerage and Waste Infrastructure (AKUM), in the implementation of its responsibilities[1]. [1]AKUM is tasked with the implementation of all the competencies that the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy has with regard to waste management infrastructure and territorial planning.
