La Bande de Gaza fait face à de sérieux défis institutionnels et financiers en matière de gestion des déchets solides. Cette situation conduit à une détérioration de l’environnement, y compris la pollution de ressources aquatiques précieuses, ce qui affecte le bien-être et la santé des Gazaouis. Towards a Green Gaza est un projet du Programme des NU pour le Développement (PNUD) qui vise à établir un système de gestion des déchets efficace et respectueux de l’environnement permettant de réduire la production de déchets. Ce programme est aligné sur la stratégie du PNUD de préservation de l’environnement ; et contribuera au Plan National d’Adaptation aux Changements climatiques de 2016 pour la Bande de Gaza et aux actions d’atténuation de la Contribution Déterminée au Niveau National (CDN) de la Palestine. The Gaza Strip is facing serious institutional and financial constraints in solid waste management, leading to the further deterioration of the environment, including contamination of precious groundwater resources, and is affecting the health and wellbeing of the residents in the Gaza Strip. The Gaza and North Gaza Governorates are in critical need of a comprehensive set of interventions to improve environmental and health conditions in the short- and long term.
