About this project

The PIRRCF programme (2026–2030) aims to strengthen the climate resilience of vulnerable municipalities located in the border area with Nigeria through an integrated approach focused on sustainable and climate-smart agricultural systems, improved water management, the development of agricultural clusters and markets, access to renewable energy and digital solutions, and innovative financial instruments such as microcredit and insurance schemes. Particular attention is given to women and young people, as well as to the promotion and valorization of locally sourced building materials. At the same time, the programme consolidates previous Belgian investments under PRRéCAZ and places strong emphasis on local ownership, institutional capacity-building, and the sustainable embedding of results. This is intended to ensure that communities are better equipped in the long term to withstand the impacts of climate change and economic shocks.
