About this project

Entering the Ferrero-Musim Mas palm oil supply chain, the project will increase pull and support for inclusion of independent smallholders in Riau, based on regenerative agricultural practices allowing for improved yields, resilience and market access. To reduce compliance costs for anti-deforestation legislation for smallholders and boost productivity, jurisdictional coordination of ecosystem integrity, forest protection and restoration is pursued. This on-ground collaboration between Ferrero, Musim Mas, and expert organizations would build a model for embedding positive change in our shared supply chain while developing solutions at a landscape level. The project promotes regenerative agricultural practices in oil palm cultivation, plus methods to safeguard the inclusion of independent smallholders in international supply chains coming under pressure from international anti-deforestation regulation. It does so through certification and jurisdictional efforts to reduce deforestation risk.
