About this project
The objective is to create sustainable, commercially viable green livelihood opportunities for women, youth and underserved groups in the e-mobility sector. We will do this by boosting income of boda riders and creating employment opportunities for women and youth, reducing air pollution, enhancing health and improving working conditions for drivers by introducing safe e-bodas (powered by RE), recycling old bodas through sustainable waste management. The business model focuses on three interlinked value: internal combustion engine (ICE) boda scrappage scheme and material recycling, e-boda distribution and aftersales, and asset financing. Boda riders can trade their old ICE bodas in return for a discount on their e-boda lease-to-own agreements. The ICE boda will be recycled and re-sold by women. KG estimates to scrap 50,000 ICE bodas, leading to an annual reduction of 175,000 t CO2 worth $7,5 million in carbon credits to be used for credit sharing with drivers.
