About this project
This project will improve traceability and resource efficient practices, helping Panipat cluster adapt to changing policy & market ecosystem, thus expanding market access. Strengthening recycled textile value chains, it will support cluster’s survival and growth, ensuring sustained livelihoods for 250,000 workers, majority of them deprived and 60% women. The business case centres on developing commercial prototypes of a customizable TM for MSMEs in recycled textile cluster. Panipat processes 60% of India's recycled textile waste, highlighting its potential as SCB, but its integration into the global supply chain is limited by inadequate measurement tools. Major brands & manufacturers often send textile production waste to local recyclers without traceability information. TM improves it by enhancing traceability for recyclers. The tool allows traceable waste procurement, efficient waste handling & makes recyclers visible. Subsequently, recyclers can register on TM platform to increase transparency with brands/manufacturers. In collaboration with SUSTENT, we will promote RES to optimize MSME processes and reduce costs. Over an 18-month development phase, we'll evaluate potential savings & TM's impact on operations and competitiveness, for bigger implementation.
