About this project

This project will support the Consolidated WASH Account (CWA) Phase II of the One WASH National Programme (OWNP), focusing on the Rural and Climate Resilient (CR)-WASH components. It targets climate-resilient and sustainable water service delivery in rural, arid, and semi-arid drought-affected regions and communities. Due to climate change, Ethiopia is experiencing more frequent floods, but especially droughts, making water resources more vulnerable than before. The project aims to mitigate this by strengthening the resilience of water and sanitation services to climate shocks. It also promotes more sustainable water infrastructure by replacing costly diesel-powered water pumps with systems connected to the national grid, powered by renewable energy.
