About this project

The project aims to institutionalise approaches for scaling up water access to low-income urban communities and increase water use efficiency, providing equitable, affordable and climate-resilient water access to 105,000 people, including 40,000 children, in targeted urban and peri-urban areas. About 90% of people will gain access through household connections and 10% via public standposts. This will be achieved by supporting the operationalisation of the Social Connection Fund to facilitate low-income household connections, improving Non-Revenue Water strategies, and limited network expansion in areas of excess production capacity. Communities will receive training to promote shared accountability for water resources. Most interventions will take place in vulnerable urban areas in northern Ghana, exposed to the effects of spillover from violent extremism.
