About this project

The 17th Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, driven by the Bundibugyo strain, has rapidly evolved into a multifaceted emergency. As of late May 2026, 126 confirmed cases and over 900 suspected cases have been recorded, with 223 suspected deaths. The provinces of Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu, already shaped by decades of armed conflict, displacement and institutional fragility, now face severe health, socioeconomic and governance shocks.
