Floods Response Coordination & Recovery in Rufiji and Kibiti Districts, Coast Region, Tanzania

About this project

The six-month Initiation Plan by the UNDP Country Office in Tanzania targets enhancing disaster preparedness and response capabilities across severely flood-affected regions, particularly Rufiji and Kibiti districts. The plan focuses on improving coordination among government agencies, local communities, and international partners for a unified disaster response. It also involves conducting detailed needs assessments tailored to the specific challenges of these areas, alongside capacity-building programs aimed at enhancing local disaster management skills. Efforts to upgrade early warning systems will incorporate advanced technologies to improve disaster predictability in these targeted regions. A comprehensive communication strategy will ensure stakeholders within and around Rufiji and Kibiti are well-informed about ongoing disaster management activities and progress. These strategic efforts will be closely monitored and evaluated to ensure they effectively improve disaster resilience in these vulnerable regions of Tanzania.
